American Legion Riders Women

The American Legion Riders Ladies of Post 189 Norwich won big time at the wine winning event after a successful and fun ride sponsored by the Red Knights Motorcycle Club Chapter 40 New York on July 30th, 2011. This run benefited the Chenango County Firefighters Fund. Below are some fun pictures of the ALR189 ladies with their prizes- looks like it might of been an interesting night!

Motorcycle Riding Skills

One friend of the webmaster is Jimi Orezzoli of the “Freebirds MC” . Besides running his own business General Tree, he is also a motorcycle road racer. So when he emailed me with a you tube video with comments like “This guy is good.” ”I wish I could ride like that.” “This guy has some serious skills.” I knew that I was going to see something amazing – which I did.
That police officer tosses that big Harley around like a toy. Below is the video, and I also put it own our Video page.
By the way, if any ALR189 Members have any motorcycle relate videos, please send them to Webmaster, thanks – the Webmaster.

Stolen Motorcycle

I would hate to have my motorcycle stolen. Lets see if we can help Jason LaBelle get his bike back! It was stolen in the Binghamton area last week. See the flyer below, thanks.

Marine Tribute Bike visits Bike Night at Gilligan’s

On June 8 at 3:30 p.m. Lawrence J. Tremblay and the Marine Tribute Bike were escorted by approximately 40 motorcycles (from several groups) from Howard Johnson’s in Norwich to Gilligan’s in Sherburne to set up for Bike Night. Thanks to Johnny Quattrocchi and Fast Lane Biker magazine for connecting ALR Post 189 & Sherburne Wheelers to Larry Tremblay. The Marine Tribute Bike was built to honor the memory of Larry’s son, Cpl. Joseph S. Tremblay and the 47 other fallen soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines that gave the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq in April 2005.

Over 330 motorcycles jam-packed the parking lot at Gilligan’s to pay tribute to fallen soldiers and to our military. Norwich City Police Dept. provided assistance with coverage of the intersections for the escort. Norwich Fire Dept. displayed the American Flag as the escort left Norwich. Sherburne Fire Dept. displayed the American flag as the escort rode into Sherburne. Sherburne American Legion Post 876 provided the Color Guard and the Riffle Volley. Thad Karaman of Sherburne (11 years old) played Taps. Stephen Cady of Norwich played his bagpipes. Donations were made by American Legion Post 189, American Legion Riders Post 189, CNY Leathernecks, and Nam Knights MC. Members of CNY Leathernecks, Nam Knights, Waterville Legion Riders Post 92, Oneonta American Legion Riders Post 259, Fire & Iron Station 47, Red Knights Chapter 40, Blue Knights, Boosefighters, Christian Motorcycle Association; and Ben Rabin of The Rabin Law Firm (and friend of ALR Post 189) attended this event.
A sincere thanks to all who attended this very special Bike Night!

Walter Reed Hospital

Robert Hagen’s uncle sent this picture of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 944 & Purple Heart Chapter 490 presenting an American Legion Riders Post 189 Norwich, NY check to the Chaplin at the Walter Reed Hospital. The ALR189 donated $100 to the hospital to give soldiers a little spending money if they are doing well enough to leave the hospital for a day or two. In total they received almost $1000 that day.
